Pierre Morère, born on 17 December 1963, in Saigon, Vietnam. He is a student researcher in interdisciplinarity (history and ecology) attached to the laboratories of the Institute of Asian Studies (IRASIA) and the Population-Ecology-Development Laboratory (LPED) of the University of Aix-Marseille. His thesis subject "The study of a forest in the Highlands of Vietnam, management and perception of biodiversity from the colonial era to the present day" is directed by Philippe Le Failler (historian and director of the French School of the Far East in Hanoi) and Bruno Vila, ecologist (in charge of the colonial museum in Marseille).
His master's degree in Tourism and E. Tourism, Management and Management of Tourism Projects, carried out at the University of Avignon (2019-2020) allowed him to acquire expertise on protected areas, animal reserves and tracking of wild animals while carrying out his end-of-study internship at the Monts d'Azur Biological Reserve, in the Alpes Maritimes, in France in 2020. However, it was well before his university career that Pierre Morère was confronted with Naturalness (Wilderness) which became a passion while he was carrying out the feasibility study of the Bidoup Nuiba National Park (2007) in the province of Lam Dong in Vietnam.
In parallel to his research work, Pierre Morère is a producer and harvester of specialty coffee under forest cover. He runs the Café Morère-Jangala company (creation, 2010). He has lived in Vietnam for fifteen years.
