Trade in Goods Between France and Vietnam in 2024: Growing Exchanges
In 2024, France traded €8.5 billion worth of goods with Vietnam (+11.5%). With exports valued at €1.5 billion (a sharp increase of +26%), France ranks as Vietnam's 21st largest supplier, maintaining a stable market share estimated at just over 0.5%.
Imports, estimated at $7 billion in 2024 (+8.4%), have further widened the bilateral trade deficit (€5.5 billion), making it France's fifth-largest bilateral deficit (compared to seventh in 2023). This deficit is primarily due to structural factors, such as Vietnam's role as the "world's workshop" and competition from other Asian countries.
However, future regulatory (e.g., border carbon adjustment, corporate due diligence) and societal changes (e.g., the growth of the middle class, aging population) could help slightly rebalance our trade relations.
