The conflict in Ukraine has generated a major shock to commodity markets, altering global patterns of trade, production, and consumption in ways that will keep prices at historically high levels through the end of 2024, according to the World Bank.
Russia and Ukraine are top producers and exporters of several important grains (such as wheat and maize), vegetable oils and fertilizers.
Ukraine is the world’s largest producer of sunflower oil and, combined with Russia, it is responsible for more than half of global exports of sunflower oil. The region is also responsible for over a third (36%) of wheat exports (making it the world’s largest exporter of wheat).
Join us this Wednesday to understand the importance of monitoring these impacts on the food ecosystem in Vietnam through the presentations of Mr Gaël Courcoux (GM of Bel Vietnam) and Mr Anh Phong Nguyen (Director AGROINFO – IPSARD), introduced by Ms Marion Chaminade (Agri-food Counsellor at the French Embassy in Vietnam).
