[THROWBACK] The French Pavilion at the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition 2024

The Green Economy Forum & Exhibition 2024 took place from October 21 to 23, bringing together key players in the green economy. The 14 exhibitors at the French Pavilion had the opportunity to showcase their sustainability-focused projects, highlighting France's commitment to responsible and innovative practices in Vietnam. The French Pavilion was designed in collaboration with Kingsmen and Plastic People, with 90% of the materials being eco-friendly.

The Program of the French Pavilion

Monday, October 21: Inauguration and France Session

On this occasion, the France-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFV) inaugurated its French Pavilion, in the presence of:

  • His Excellency Mr. Olivier Brochet, Ambassador of France to Vietnam
  • Mrs. Emmanuelle Pavillon Grosser, Consul General
  • Mr. Thibaut Giroux, President of the CCIFV
  • Mr. Christophe Cougnaud, Secretary General of the CCIFV

We also had the honor of welcoming Mr. Bùi Thanh Sơn, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

The afternoon was marked by the France Session, which included a press conference and a conference on green mobility. The introduction was delivered by:

  • H.E. Mr. Olivier Brochet, sharing his inspiring vision of French support for Vietnam's green transition and the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
  • Mr. Thibaut Giroux, President of the CCIFV
  • Mr. Adam Koulaksezian, Executive Director of the CCIFV
  • Mr. Hervé Conan, Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), who presented captivating projects in sustainable development.

A roundtable followed, showcasing French expertise in Vietnam's green transition, with participation from:

  • Mr. Yoan Guyon, CCO of Green Yellow, Asia
  • Mr. Karim Bregui, Director of the International Division for Vietnam
  • Mr. Benoît Clocheret, Executive President of Artelia
  • Mr. Lionel Steinitz, CEO of IDsud Energies

After a short break, the conference explored two key themes:

  1. Connectivity of land and maritime routes to reduce the carbon footprint of supply chains. 🚢🌱
  2. Urban mobility: towards sustainable and efficient cities. 🏙️🚴‍♂️

Thank you as well to our moderators for this session: Mr. Christophe Cougnaud, Partner at Forvis Mazars; Mr. Eric Gratton, General Director of Artelia Vietnam; and Mr. Alexandre Sompheng, CEO of Havas Vietnam.

More than 300 participants had the chance to discover inspiring green initiatives. The day concluded with a networking session bringing together partners and participants.

Tuesday, October 22: Exhibitor Interviews and Workshop

The CCIFV co-organized a workshop with Veolia on water waste management. Interviews were also conducted with each of our exhibitors to better understand their missions, their interest in the GEFE, and the green innovations they bring. We also gathered their impressions of the France Session and the reasons behind their participation in the French Pavilion.

Wednesday, October 23: Job Fair and Activities

The final day of the GEFE was dedicated to students, featuring a workshop on carbon impact led by our ESG Task Force committee aimed at raising awareness among a broader audience. At the end of the day, Mr. Adam Koulaksezian, Executive Director of the CCIFV, was interviewed by the Eurocham teams.
