[THROWBACK] Vietnam | Learning Expedition

Learning Expedition 2024 explored Vietnam's dynamic commercial landscape over 6 days.

From 10 to 16 April, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam brilliantly orchestrated its first Learning Expedition, a 6-day immersion aimed at familiarising European executives with the Vietnamese market.

The first two days in Ho Chi Minh City were devoted to exploring the historical and economic development of Vietnam, highlighting the interaction between culture and trade. These rich exchanges laid the foundations for a fruitful learning trip.

Participants then delved into topics such as investment, growth sectors, the legal and fiscal framework, and the profile of Vietnamese consumers, with a focus on the electric vehicle industry. These conferences were orchestrated by Mazars and Vero. Afterwards, they visited QIMA to discuss the quality control industry and discover its technological advances.

The third day took place in Hai Phong, at the heart of the North's main manufacturing hub, with over 100 factories including Pegatron and Foxconn (supplier to Apple). The participants were welcomed by DEEPC, who gave a presentation on the industrial aspect of Vietnam, DEEPC's activities in Vietnam and a tour of their industrial park.

The expedition continued with a cruise on Halong Bay, offering participants an enchanting interlude to admire the scenery.
Arriving in Hanoi on 15 April, they explored the National Innovation Center and the activities of the FabLab, followed by presentations at our offices by AFD and IDEC, and a stroll through the authentic streets of Hanoi.

On the final day, in collaboration with the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the Vietnam Engineering Excellence Training Programme, a visit to the HUST campus provided an opportunity to discuss the Vietnamese educational landscape.
Vietnam's economic growth is impressive, affecting several sectors such as agriculture, technology, construction, manufacturing, renewable energy and retail. Its promising future lies in its pro-business reforms, its young and skilled population, and its strategic position in Asia.

A big thank you to our enthusiastic participants who helped make this first Learning Expedition a great experience, motivating us to repeat the experience.
